Few of you know that I play Dofus. It is an adorably cute tactical MMORPG with a very extensive and fun crafting system. Well.. same guys are making a new game, to be released in 2008 and i must say it looks absolutely gorgeous. It has been a while since I have been so excited about a game release! Ladies and gentlemen, presenting *drum roll* Wakfu :)

Also, I will be removing Dofus game guides from my site because I have discovered a much better FAQ Site for Dofus. There is simply no point to reinvent the wheel. Instead I will place my time & efforts elsewhere useful!

I got to spend a lot of time with Muffin lately thinking about the
complications of life and all the possible solutions. He is a wonderful
dog; affectionate, kind and loving. Sometimes I think he knows how I
feel and what is going on inside my head. And that is exactly what I
need right now for the time being...

Just a few days ago, spring has filled the air. With it came pleasant
warmth and a sense of new beginning. I walked outside; in awe and
disbelief of how amazing and swift can a change take place when it is
shaped by the hands of a powerful cause.
Today I awakened, stepped outside and was dumbfounded by how true my
observation really was. Frigidness and cold was in the air. And so I
accept all change for what it is and I refuse to fight it any longer.
Therefore I will let things run their natural course wherever it leads...

Myst Online “The Quest for New Pants” |

Upon browsing Mmorpg.Com for highest rated MMO’s I saw something
astonishing. Newly released Myst Online was among top 10 this very
morning (it is not anymore). What is even more peculiar is that this
game was cancelled at one point and then mysteriously brought back to
life. How does a good game get cancelled in its development cycle? Have
developers or their supporters themselves felt the need to rate up
their game or is there another possible explanation to all of this?
Some of you may remember the 90’s Myst adventure series (few of us
called it “Pyst” for its frustratingly dumb design). Some “computer
users” (please do not read gamers) praised it as the most innovative
game of all time, but I thought it was an over hyped pile of dung that
belonged to value bin along with Deer Hunter!
New Myst MMO is in top 10? So now the curiosity got the best of me ;) I
downloaded GameTap service, because Myst Online was one of
their “exclusives”. Then I downloaded the game and signed on for a 7
day trial account. Few hours later I was in the game as a large black
man with remarkable white man’s face features. Being a trial member
clearly had taken its physiological toll on me...

I was running around the desert and eventually came to a random
trailer. Here a fat cocky guy named Zandi told me some tutorial
nonsense about a lever I had to pull in a “cliff”. Sappy white trash
music playing in background made me want to kill myself right on the
spot. So instead I went looking for that mysterious lever, falling off
numerous cliffs in the process. At this point I sort of got an idea of
what to expect from this game and where all this was going so I asked
for the live support…

B. Drechsel: How can I help?
vitadrakonia: Hello there!
vitadrakonia: So I am in the middle of the desert, there is a guy doing
BBQ in a trailer here…
B. Drechsel: lol, yup :) Need a hint?
vitadrakonia: Well this fat bastard wants me to use a lever that
doesn’t exist, I just ran all over the desert in circles
vitadrakonia: And the music makes me want to kill someone... how do I
change this?
B. Drechsel: Ok, one second...
B. Drechsel: Music, you're stuck with :) Just give the trailer a wide
berth, unless you need a hint.
B. Drechsel: As for the lever...
vitadrakonia: Give the trailer a what?
vitadrakonia: I am sorry I am not familiar with southern lexicon…
B. Drechsel: Oh, just give the trailer plenty of room and won't here
his stereo.
vitadrakonia: Right on! So avoid the BBQ guy all together. I figured
that much he looks useless
B. Drechsel: About the lever... have you been down the ladder into
the "cleft" area yet?
vitadrakonia: Yes
B. Drechsel: By the way, the dude's name is Zandi, and he can offer
some fairly helpful hints. He's usually worth listening to.
B. Drechsel: Ok, but the bridge broke, right?
vitadrakonia: Bridge... I jumped over it!
B. Drechsel: So you have made it to the upper rooms?
vitadrakonia: Oh yea, I like the cave, very scenic. Even water there,
in the desert...
B. Drechsel: The reason I ask is there are rooms on either side of
the "cleft"...
B. Drechsel: The side with the ladder is easy to get to, but the
opposite side is where the "lever" would be.
vitadrakonia: You know, until you said "cleft" I though Zandi was
talking about a "cliff"
B. Drechsel: Ah :) That would confuse things...
vitadrakonia: Yes I even fell off a cliff few times
vitadrakonia: It hurt...
B. Drechsel: lol
vitadrakonia: I am curious about something
B. Drechsel: Sure...
vitadrakonia: Well first of all when decision was made that Zandi will
be a fat blob in a middle of a desert cooking BBQ in a trailer and he
would be my "tutorial guy", did it ever occur to anyone that it is hard
to take this seriously?
vitadrakonia: I mean from game design point...
B. Drechsel: Lol, maybe he's just an old guy who knows something...
B. Drechsel: I'll tell you though, once you make it through the desert
here, you won't be seeing much of him anymore.
vitadrakonia: Maybe, or maybe I feel this this music, BBQ and a trailer
are a bit too much for me to handle when entering a new fantasy
world... :)
B. Drechsel: You'll find that much of your experiences in Uru line up
very closely with reality...
B. Drechsel: Jeff Zandi is actually a real person.
vitadrakonia: I am not a bit surpirsed... Where is he from?
B. Drechsel: I'm not real sure, the volcano is in New Mexio, for what
it's worth.
vitadrakonia: Kinda dangerous and dumb to live close to a volcano...
vitadrakonia: Are you sure Zandy knows his stuff?
B. Drechsel: Don't worry, it's been dormant many, many years. And yes
he does, just don't try looking for a cliff :)
B. Drechsel: Can I help you with anything else in the cleft?
vitadrakonia: I just had one more question
B. Drechsel: Sure, shoot :)
vitadrakonia: When creating my character who is a large overweight
black male, I could not help but notice that I was forced to limited
choices of clothing. I think Wal Mart looking sneakers and a pair of
jeans. I know this is a trial and all but would my chance of buying
this game possibly increase if I could dress myself up more stylish?
vitadrakonia: Or are you guys worried once I see other stylish options
and try them on I will not pay for rest of "content"?
vitadrakonia: Because there is a lot of other content... right?
B. Drechsel: Lol, your clothing choices will be quite a bit wider as
an explorer...
B. Drechsel: Have you been into the "cavern" at all yet?
vitadrakonia: How is that going to help me with my pants options?
B. Drechsel: As far as you pants go, that sounds a little personal,
but let me say this...
vitadrakonia: Listening carefully...
B. Drechsel: If you use the green book on your shelf now, you'll be
taken to your "neighborhood"
vitadrakonia: The hood? Now we talking’ boiii!
B. Drechsel: lol, yup
B. Drechsel: If you take a look in the classroom, you see some
directions for snagging a "KI" device...
vitadrakonia: Like a Key?
B. Drechsel: ...if you're wonder what that is, think "ancient, but
still cool, PDA"
vitadrakonia: Step aside Palm Pilot!
B. Drechsel: And yes, certain doors will only open if you have a "KI"
device.
vitadrakonia: Damn I am good :)
B. Drechsel: Once you have your KI, you can head back to that room in
the hood, and take a look at the center book.
B. Drechsel: It'll take you to a place called the Nexus.
vitadrakonia: Do they craft nice pants at Nexus?
B. Drechsel: It's a small room, with some machinery and computer-type
terminal.
vitadrakonia: I knew it! Pants machines!
B. Drechsel: You can use it to access any of the many public
neighborhoods, and it'll also show you how many people are in each hood.
vitadrakonia: This sounds like a commercial...
B. Drechsel: Ah, but I was getting to the point ;)
vitadrakonia: Ahhh, so I can't have pants but I can look at others pants
vitadrakonia: I see how it is...
B. Drechsel: Yup :)
B. Drechsel: If you want to look around, better make it quick.
B. Drechsel: We will be conducting some maintenance in a few minutes...
B. Drechsel: And the servers will be down for up to an hour or two.
vitadrakonia: Ok I better run then, can’t, miss this... chance ;)
And there you have it folks… my review of Myst Online “The Quest for
New Pants”, now I most definitely cannot wait for Myst servers to be
back up and I hope Deer Hunter Online (PvP edition) comes out soon too,
because then I could finally fulfill my fantasy of role-playing a
vicious mangling deer named Bambi… Die Zandi, Die!

I have been too busy reuniting with my city, clubbing and hanging out
with friends to spend time updating the site last few weeks. But this
is a quick update to assert that I am alive and doing alright. A lot of
my time has been consumed by endless analyzing of present internet
market potentials and trying to figure out where I should place my next
career step. There are few good ideas I have, both I am very excited
about implementing.
Neither of them have anything to do with online gaming. And that is
probably a good thing that I will get a break from that after 10 long
years. I have spent way too much time playing Vanguard last few weeks
to realize that I am kind of tired of present gaming situation. Today I
uninstalled the game from my hard drive and earned 17 gigabytes free
space and an eternal release from headache that that bug ridden game has caused me…
I have browsed forums and saw many people complain about
state of present games. Seems all developers have lost the grip, the
vision. Worlds feel empty and pointless. I am getting multiple emails
from players looking to sell their veteran UO accounts. Should I ever
stumble upon a few million bucks, I will re-consider continuing my gaming career by creating my own MMO game. One that will not suck…

I have been cheating on New York…

Now that I am back to the Big Apple, what do I do instead of spending
time with my city? I sit in front of computer for 3 days playing
Vanguard. This game is more addictive than crack, but yet after giving
it those 3 days of my time I am not very impressed with it after all.
My rating is about 70% and that is me being generous. In current state
the game suffers from many technical issues, such as graphical
glitches, crashes and occasional unexplained loss of items. Although
the world is amazing and huge, advancement is a pain in the ass and
quests are very monotonous. I am pretty sure I will be closing my
subscription after 30 days, and will spend more time with Dofus ;)
Thursday night a friend of mine told me of a great photo gallery by
Evgeny Mokhorev, one of very radical and creative Russian
photographers. I am always interested in unusual, so Friday I got
myself out in the cold and headed to see what that was all about...

I really liked the collection. Theme as I understood was human body
versus metal. Flexible versus Rigid? Possibly even a battle of sorts
between the two. This one shot was my absolute favorite!

Weekend was spent out dancing, Friday night at The Annex. “Ruff Club”
party was in full swing until 4am, drugs and all, and then police
rushed in to shut it down prematurely. What a bummer! So I promised
myself to go out again to make up for that, and Saturday night was well
spent in Sullivan Room, getting my groove on with truly amazing DJ Hipp-
E. That was some of better house I have danced to for a while. Today is
Sunday and I am enjoying a mellow day, my legs are a bit cramped but
that is normal and expected after 12 hours of dancing in a single
weekend. Just finished up UO deliveries and made all customers happy. I
think I will go watch a movie or something and call it a night ;)

I am back in New York City. Having spent my birthday with my family, I
am currently swarmed with tax paperwork and overdue bills. And that is
not much fun! I did receive my collector’s edition of Vanguard however
and am excited to install it and check it out. Let’s hope my $89 spent
was not for another WOW clone… I shall write my personal impressions of
this new MMO when I get a really good close look at it ;)

Last yummy bits of Turkey... |

During last two days of my trip I tried to see as much interesting
stuff as I possibly could… ;)

First stop was Topkapi Palace turned museum, which I entered here!

I headed straight to weapon section to see amazing weapons and armor.
This display of spiky shield, axes and maces I liked the best...

In clothes pavilion there were many things to see but nothing quite
like this fancy underwear!

I bough an additional admission ticket to visit the Harem because I was
curious how Sultan and his 300 women spent time ;)

The concubines’ courtyard was pretty and pink, but the toilets were not
so great…

After palace I met up with Arthur and Sharkan players of Atlantic. We
ate some fish sandwiches and headed to Spice Market. Here I sneaked up
on them with a camera and took this photo in the mirror!

Arthur is in the middle and Sharkan is only partially visible on the
left, but this photo of Turkish sweets came out much better ;)

Our next stop was Galata tower. It is the tallest one in the city, I think!

From very top I got a good shot of Istanbul. I think that it is stunning…

Together we took oldest one cart metro to Taksim square area!

We all headed to gamers cafe, drank tea and played backgammon and
monopoly. I lost in first and won in second. Arthur was not happy,
because he claimed to be the monopoly master. Sorry man, you can still
always be my tea delivery boy like this guy if you want ;)

During my stay in Istanbul I saw many of same type of bagel looking
bread being sold all over town. I wondered where it came from, but
mystery was uncovered with this moment!

And this is how “bagel bread” is distributed around, pretty neat huh?

Everywhere everything is being sold. Even by little pink girls!

Although this kitty is too busy licking himself to be peddling jewelry ;)

Gambling is illegal here, but apparently not when you win cigarettes?

During one of my meals at a restaurant I had the pleasure to converse
with these two girls. Meet Tuuba and… Tuuba! Who still wants to think
that Turkish girls are not pretty?

Unfortunately it was time for me to fly back to New York so I could not spend any more time here in Istanbul starting my own personal Harem. And if I did I would probably start with these two ;)
